Shelly dug through a file cabinet in search of something Detective Matt needed immediately. A secretary came in to help Matt, Wilson, and the sergeant to sort out the mountain of paperwork regarding the e-mails sent from Christine’s computer that was confiscated during the investigation of her murder. The phone was ringing nonstop, and the red lights were blinking continuously. Shelly slammed the drawer and said, “I don’t see it in this one,” and then went to the next file cabinet. The sergeant stood inside the doorway and yelled into the corridor for someone to “pick up the fucking phone.” There was total chaos, but no one understood, except Detectives Matt and Wilson.

“Sergeant, I need those transcriptions of Christine’s e-mails translated from French to English,” he yelled emphatically.

“We’re working on it, Matt,” the sergeant replied.

Just then, Shelly shouted, “Here it is,” and handed it to Matt.

Matt read the translated e-mails with a disturbed look.

“What is it, Detective?” Mawhinney asked curiously.

He held the transcriptions out for Wilson and the sergeant to see and pointed to some text.

Detective Wilson read it and said, “How? Is this possible, Matt? Surely, it’s not him?”

Sergeant Mawhinney read the text and saw the name “Kevin Matt” written in the text, but made no connection. He glossed over the name again, paused with a look of astonishment, scratched his head, and gazed at the detectives, confused and perturbed.
